In The Community
New Day School functions as a community and is led by a common goal: to help children to grow, to be loved, and to realize their greatness potential. A fundamental dynamism grows from the inspiration and dedication of the parents, teachers, staff and students who nurture New Day’s program and facilities. Everyone has different capacities and potentialities, and we try to encourage each community member to contribute in his/her own way. The New Day School community is composed of the Parents/Guardians, Children, Teachers, Staff and Alumni.
Friends of New Day School
New Day School invites you to learn about our friends.
Our primary goal is the care and feeding of abused, neglected or abandoned animals including large farm animals, pigs, rabbits, chickens, cats and dogs. We network with Portland (Oregon) area feral cat rescue groups to provide loaner traps and transportation of cats to area clinics for spay and neuter procedures. We maintain feeding stations for feral cat colonies in Estacada. We work with animal welfare groups such as the NW In Defense of Animals to investigate reports of animal neglect in Clackamas County.
The goal of the ecovillage is to create a sustainable, eco-friendly community committed to providing a sustainable, ecological and safe living environment for all residents. It nurtures and fosters the well-being of the individual as well as the members of the greater community. Kailash Ecovillage is located on a two-acre site in inner SE Portland, Oregon, about four miles from downtown in the Creston Kenilworth neighborhood. Their extensive gardens consist of individual garden plots as well as communally managed spaces. The latter include a perennial fruit orchard and food forest, vineyards, berry patches, and areas for annual crops.
