Our Skylark Kindergarten class is a certified program that meets state kindergarten benchmarks through creative, play based methods and Neo-Humanist curriculum.  The Skylark class is for children who turn 5 by September 1st.  However, if space allows, we consider slightly younger children, on a case by case basis.

Academic Choice: Language center with rotating activities, listening station, writing practice, matching games, etc.

Morning Message: Modeling writing, sentence structure and vocabulary building.

Writers Workshop: Weekly practice to develop writing skills.

Alphabet Story: Cumulative Narrative used to develop phonemic awareness and writing fluency.

Math and Science: Science gives direct application to math in monthly themes that include geology, biology, matter, force, earth, gardening, diversity, interdependence, collecting, and interpreting data.

Ethical Values: Each month the Skylarks are introduced to a different value through stories, sharing, and group activities. October- Inner Light, November – Benevolent Truthfulness, December – Sharing, January – Helping Hands, February – Simple Living, March – Cleanliness, April – Contentment, May – Community Service, June – Circle of Love
